If "Life begins at 40", may I tell you that at 50 it gets a lot better, and at 60 it borders on sheer fantastic!
I recall a simple question long ago from one of ALBERT's travellers. The bus had ambled to a lunchtime stop at a water crossing in the desert and everybody eagerly exited to have a splash, find a rock, breathe the glorious pristine air. Yes, this was a peaceful Afghanistan - 1974.
Stephen, a quieter member of our group, wandered round to the front of the bus as I was jumping from the cab. Casting his gaze from the ribbon of road we had just travelled to the distant mountains, to the long black strip of road ahead, then to me, he caught my eye and asked: "Andy, when are you going to get a proper job?"
I was stunned! This "job" seemed pretty good to me. But does it matter? Aren't we all here to each be the person we are? Today, I see "my job" as to encourage ALBERT back to Sydney. It can be done, so why not join us and embrace this fantastic opportunity with a great team?
The challenges are the fun, the people too. Here we can give life and meaning to an adventure that will bring joy to others; folks who share in the project; folks for whom Albert will bring smiles and happiness along the way (can't wait for China!); and folks at home who will see the thrill of ALBERT's travels along the Old Silk Road on their television or cinema screens in the years to come.
What a dream! Join in and make it yours too . . . Andy
